The experimental study of a new kind of interface is presented. It is able to work everywhere, both in dangerous environments and in cases of electromagnetic interference, because it uses no electrical signals. In these devices the input command is given by an infrared source, transported by fibre optics and then transformed into a pressure signal through the optopneumatic interface. Therefore electrical power can be removed from the special and/or dangerous environment thanks to the fibre optic length. This kind of control is faster and easier to use than a pneumatic one. The prototype obtained is an optofluidic proportional amplifier, with high pressure gain and good accuracy.
