This paper describes a new technique of irregular and adaptive sampling developed to process still images con- taining objects of interest over a non interesting back- ground. The method allows the identication of inter- esting elements and is able to choose the sampling in- terval more adequate to obtain a correct description of them. The not interesting background is roughly sam- pled and this particular aspect of the method is an im- portant advantage. Objects are rst detected by a pre- liminary sampling phase and then a resampling process begins, until a convergence test in the Fourier domain is satised and stops the process. Examples of applica- tions are given.

Abstract
This paper describes a new technique of irregular and adaptive sampling developed to process still images con- taining objects of interest over a non interesting back- ground. The method allows the identication of inter- esting elements and is able to choose the sampling in- terval more adequate to obtain a correct description of them. The not interesting background is roughly sam- pled and this particular aspect of the method is an im- portant advantage. Objects are rst detected by a pre- liminary sampling phase and then a resampling process begins, until a convergence test in the Fourier domain is satised and stops the process. Examples of applica- tions are given.Pubblicazioni consigliate
