This paper presents the implementation and evaluation of the performance of an Electronic Equalizer (EE), based on the MLSE criterion, inside the commercial system tool OptSimr. The aim of the paper is the use of the MLSE to recover ISI generated by several effects (e.g. Chromatic Dispersion, ASE Noise, FWM, and XPM). Firstly, we compare computer simulations done in Opt- Sim, with already published experimental results. Secondly, we apply the MLSE to some recent researches carried out by our groups, and we analyze its performance.
