This paper presents an overview of some of the methodologies defined during the project “Development of a high-dependable COTS-based computer system for space applications, and its validation through Fault Injection”. The pro-ject, funded by the Italian Space Agency, involves Politecnico di Torino, Alenia Spazio in Torino, the Scuola Superiore S.Anna in Pisa, and the University of Sannio in Benevento. In particular, the paper outlines the main characteristics of a Dependable Software Development Kit (DSDK) designed to support the software engineer in releasing dependable applications for embedded systems starting from either commercial or native software.
