Nitrurazione ionica di acciai inossidabili

On the basis of previous investigations on the equilibrium relationships in the Fe-Cr-N system carried out in our department, the nitrided superficial layers on stainless steels have been studied with respect to their microstructural characteristics and their corrosion resistance in slightly aggressive media. The corrosion resistance of nitrided stainless steels has received little attention in literature, notwithstanding the practical importance of the problem. Ion-nitriding of stainless steels results in the formation of a uniform and hard surface layer, which has a high and practically constant hardness value ( greater than 1200 HV).
