This paper analyses the evolution of the carbonation depth on the basis of experimental results obtained from an extensive experimental campaign which was carried out on some already existing r.c. structures of an important Italian motorway infrastructure, such as viaducts, bridges, overpasses, tunnels and retaining walls. The experimental results have been compared with the theoretical ones to highlight the influence of the environment and the concrete quality of the concrete on carbonation.
