Stream quality and the management of all the water bodies became the objective of the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC.The Italian regional government assigns to the Po Interregional Agency (AIPO) the management of the principal hydrographic networks, in which Pellice stream is included. Pellice is located in Piedmont region (N-W, Italy), for a length of 55 km and could be di- vided in two parts, the mountain and the lowland part. The lowland part is the objective of the pres- ent research, with the objective to realize a complete study concerning the morphological, hydraulic and ecological analysis of the Pellice stream. The scientific community prefers the multidisciplinary approach because the quality of the streams depends on numerous variables concerning both the hydraulic aspects and the ecological quality. In this study the hydraulic and morphological informa- tion have been obtained with a numerical and geometrical model and then using a new index, con- cerning the morphological quality (IQM).The ecological study has been realized with two different approaches: the application of the Ecological Status Index (created by the present research group) and the Fluvial Functionality Index (IFF), much more widespread in Italian stream analysis. The numerous researches applied on the Pellice stream had the task to study its actual ecological quality, evaluating the best practices for stream analysis and subsequent stream monitoring. Conse- quent positive result is represented by the definition of interventions needed for restore and recover the better stream ecological and morpho-hydraulic quality.
