This paper deals with the design of a VLSI architecture based on the Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT). Firstly some challenging features dealing with IWT are presented, namely optimal factorizations of the wavelet poliphase matrix and finite precision representation effects. Then a VLSI architecture is proposed for a video rate IWT implementation and some promising complexity estimations are given.

Abstract
