Bio-composites consisting of poly(lactic acid) and agricultural by-products/wastes or derived from it have been prepared by melt-blending. The effect of different filler type and contents on mechanical properties and oxygen permeability has been investigated. Moreover, these properties have been fitted with models in order to customize the filler content and an economic analysis on the feasibility has been carried out.

Abstract
