The use of the composite material in the space reinforced structures is presented in this paper. A unified approach based on the Carrera Unified Formulatin (CUF) has been used to derive the model using a compact notation. Refined one-dimensional theory has been used as structural model for the evaluation of the effects on the free-vibration analysis of nonstructural masses and load factor. The present model has been used to analyse cylindrical space structures reinforced using longitudinal and transversal stiffeners. Different material configurations has been considered, in particular the coupling between isotropic and orthotropic materials has been included. The results, compared with those from Finite Element (FE) models, confirm the accuracy of the model.
