Surviving buildings, closures and demolitions in Turin in the 19th and 20th centuries: the case of the convent of the Visitazione, former convent of the Poor Clares

Convent of the Visitation (XV sec.) rised up inside the city walls of Turin, in the northwest, an area full of churches, convents and important religious complexes. Demolished in the early thirties of the twentieth century, in the same place was built, in 1936, the Palace of Health and Hygiene Services designed by Giovanni Battista Ricci. The new legislative framework in ecclesiastical matters dealt with laws Siccardi (1850) for the abolition of privileges of the Catholic clergy, the significant war damage caused by the bombings of the Second World War (1942), the following drafting of reconstruction plans and town plans of the city of Turin, represent an interesting interpretation of permanences in the current city. This cultural heritage is recognizable in the contemporary city? What actions for conservation, new functions and enhancement of this heritage?
