Abstract
The possibility to provide users with a large number of navigation-related services has been a driving force to increase the Global Navigation Satellite Systems accuracy, availability, reliability, integrity requirements and a stimulus for their integration with the world of personal communications. With this aim, several support systems both terrestrial and satellite based have been implemented; under the boost of the Galileo deployment and of the GPS modernization, new evolutions of such augmentation systems are being studied and designed. In this paper we present the latest results of a research activity introduced in [1] and [2], addressing the design of a novel GNSS augmentation system based on the use of High Altitude Platform (HAP) [4]. After a brief introduction on the Stratolite concept, we the integration with Galileo Local Element (GLE) architecture is discussed and a case study where the Stratolite is employed as support infrastructure using EGNOS, is discussed.Pubblicazioni consigliate
