Abstract

In 2008, Fiat Group Automobiles and Politecnico di Torino signed an agreement for promoting the introduction of ergonomics and workplace design at the curricular level of future production engineers and designers as well as the enhancement of the cooperation between the industrial world and the academia. The course of “Ergonomics for Manufacturing Systems”, activated within the Master Degree in Automotive Engineering, has seen an increasing number of students enrolling, with the participation of international students as well as locals. A course on ergonomics and workplace design has also been activated for Ph.D. students, coming from the different areas of engineering and industrial design, with the aim of spreading the ergonomics culture beyond traditional boundaries. In the framework of the agreement, research cooperation has also been enhanced through joint research projects and activation of Ph.D. scholarships
