A Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) that behaves as a shield over an ultra-wide band (UWB) is presented. It is composed of cross-dipoles and rings and these two elements are printed on the two surfaces of a single dielectric slab. The numerical investigations demonstrate a shielding bandwidth of 74% from 6.5 GHz to 14 GHz with at least 20dB attenuation. The FSS also has a nearly linearly decreasing phase response in this band. The transmission and reflection performances in the frequency domain result in improving the Effective Electromagnetic Shielding (EES). Abstract
