Archivio Istituzionale della RicercaThis chapter aims at providing a critical reflection on the relation between smart city and neoliberal urban governance. It argues that, in the current economic scenario characterized by crisis and austerity, the smart city policy represents an attempt to attract and co-opt private actors in the provision of urban services. This ongoing scenario opens a number of critical issues concerning the relation between urban neoliberalism and welfare.
